Fun game, shame about the local multiplayer
Splatoon is a fantastic and innovative game. The turf war mode is a lot of fun. Each match lasts only 3 minutes, so you don't get as easily frustrated if things aren't going well. The single-player mode is also very enjoyable if you're tired of turf war. You battle against octopuses and have to solve various puzzles to defeat them and progress through the levels. Unfortunately, in my opinion, Nintendo hasn't paid much attention to the local multiplayer aspect. You can only play with 2 players and you have to shoot down balloons. I would have preferred to see turf wars playable with friends sitting next to you. Hopefully, that will be added in an update. Cijfer:

The main aspect of Splatoon, the online multiplayer, feels like a third-person shooter doing something innovative and original. With the focus on coloring the map with paint, everything looks colorful and it comes across as a new way of playing, which is simply fun.
However, the game does have some shortcomings when it comes to the single player mode, and the local multiplayer could have been better. These two game modes feel very limited. In short, when your Wii U is connected to the internet, Splatoon is definitely a recommendation in terms of online play. If you're more of a single player gamer, then you might want to pass on Splatoon. Cijfer:

Great game! It just doesn't offer much if you don't have an internet connection.
Splatoon is by far the best shooter I have ever played, as I am not a fan of blood at all, which is fortunately not present here! Additionally, the goal in Splatoon is not to kill as many opponents as possible, but mainly to mark your territory with ink! The team that has spread the most ink after a match wins! After each match, you receive experience points that allow you to level up and unlock weapons, but you also earn coins, which you can use to buy new weapons or clothing. There is a lot to purchase, so you won't get bored quickly! However, all of this requires an internet connection. Without an internet connection, you can't do much at all, you can't even access the shops.
You can still play the single-player mode, where the goal is to reclaim the energy of the city of Inkopolis from the Octopuses. Through this adventure, you can unlock blueprints for new weapons that you can use in online matches. So, having an internet connection is crucial to fully enjoy Splatoon. Cijfer:

Splatoon: a very fun online multiplayer game!
Splatoon is a super fun game to play online, you can participate in online Turf Wars and Ranked Battles. In Turf Wars, you are in a team of 4 players competing against another team of 4 players, the goal is to have as much paint on the ground as possible when the 3 minutes are up. Ranked Battle can only be played from level 10 onwards, where you battle for one or two small areas of the level. The game also includes a fun Single Player mode, although it is a bit short. You can also engage in local multiplayer with 2 people, where the aim is to pop as many balloons as possible. My favorite mode in the game is Turf Wars, because you can shoot paint and the battles only last 3 minutes, making it convenient for a quick game. It's very addictive, once you finish a match, you'll want to play another one right away. The graphics in this game are fantastic, and it features delightful music. Best shooter game ever!
Splatoon is truly a fantastic shooter game. You can go all out in Turf War or take it easy in the single-player hero mode. The Splatfests are also really cool because they're a bit more challenging. While waiting in Turf War or Ranked Battle, you can play the arcade game Squid Jump. (Really old school). The game is always fun, so you won't regret buying it. Cijfer:

Fun, just a shame about Local
A very fun game, whether playing alone or online, it doesn't matter. Singleplayer is enjoyable and (not too) simple. This prevents it from getting boring, you fight against octopuses and it works well against boredom. But the real reason to buy this game is the multiplayer! It mainly revolves around Turf Wars: in this game mode, you try to claim as much land as possible in about 3 minutes. You do this by spraying paint with paint guns on the floor, walls, and other objects.
This game is often compared to Call of Duty, which I don't understand. They are not very similar. CoD is about kills, while here it's about teamwork and claiming land. There is also Local, but that's nothing special. You just have to shoot down balloons.Splatoon Cijfer:

Great game for Shooter fans!
Nintendo has finally tried something new. For people who enjoy shooter games, Splatoon is definitely a must-have. The unique weapons and ability to switch between a squid and human form make the game easy to pick up and enjoy, but difficult to master all its ups and downs.

Best game ever made for the Wii U
Splatoon is really awesome! You can change your weapons, buy clothes, and even steal things. I think it's the best game released for the Wii U so far! It looks stunning in HD, especially Captain CuttleFish's missions. It's also cool that you can use Amiibos to win clothing. That's why this game gets a SOLID 10 from me. Cijfer:

Multiplayer game
Actually, I don't find Splatoon to be a fun game to play alone. I understand that many people do enjoy this game, but it's just not my cup of tea.
I played it yesterday with my nephew, the multiplayer is really enjoyable. Definitely something you should play with others. The single player missions are a bit disappointing ;-) Cijfer:

Personally, I skipped Splatoon on the Nintendo Wii U in the past, but I decided to give it a chance now. I have previously purchased and played Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch, and I must say that the original version is much better than the sequel.
Starting with the weapons, they are much more standard. This is very enjoyable as you know exactly what each weapon can and cannot do. Also, in my opinion, the maps are a lot more fun. They have interesting elements and offer many different paths.

Additionally, the online mode is still very active. However, the lobbies are often filled with people from Asia. Sometimes you also don't play with people of your own skill level. This is because there are not enough players at certain times.
Do I recommend this game? Definitely, in my opinion, it's more enjoyable than Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch. The elements are much more fun, and the maps are great. Just keep in mind that matchmaking can be a bit annoying at times. If you find that to be a real issue, you might be better off buying Splatoon 2. That game is still very active. Hide. Cijfer:

A Must-Have!!
Splatoon is a fantastic game for the Wii U, truly a must-have. You can play many different modes, such as Turf War where you have to cover as much ground as possible with paint alongside your team, or the single-player mode where you fight against the Octarians as a hero. The only thing I find a bit disappointing is that there isn't much to do when you're offline, but luckily that doesn't happen often since the Wii U is a home console. Cijfer:
