Fortunately, the game is very short!
Sonic Boom is unfortunately one of the worst Sonic games of all time, and also the worst game on the Wii U. The game is full of glitches, the characters keep talking non-stop, and the framerate drops significantly during certain parts.
Furthermore, the game can only be played with the Wii U Gamepad, despite the packaging stating that you can use 5 different controllers. Fortunately, the game is very short, and perhaps the very youngest players can still get something out of it, but for fans of Sonic and platformers, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is a bitter pill to swallow.

Nothin' to offer
That Sonic, back in the nineties he was still rocking the dance floor at that trendy party, but when he took a break for some fresh air, he suddenly couldn't get back in. But in recent years, Sega has been desperately trying to bring about a renaissance for the blue hedgehog. And this game doesn't help at all, quite the opposite.
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is uninspired, unfinished, bare, overpolished, and the list goes on. Apart from the characters, there's nothing that makes it a Sonic game; it's a glorified licensed game from ten years ago. In short: steer clear of this game like the plague, and let Sega know that rushed games have no chance of success.
