This is going to be a classic, and a Mario adventure finally in HD
I got this with the Wii U. It's really cool to play with Mario in HD (better image quality). It's a challenge, but luckily you can skip difficult levels if you lose a life 5 times in the level and there are plenty of bonus things to find.

It's very progressive, the difficulty level increases slowly. I got the deluxe version with Super Luigi included, but that one is really impossible (and to make matters worse, against the clock).

However, I do think that for very young children (7-10 years old) even the Mario part is too difficult. My nephew certainly couldn't make heads or tails of it.

Unfortunately, it's not very big, but sometimes you're on the edge of your seat and starting over doesn't feel like doing the dishes. A delightful game; it took me 8 to 9 hours to complete.

The "end bosses" are all well developed and with enough patience and concentration, doable. I haven't managed to beat Bowser yet, but I've completed 95% of the levels in about 7-9 hours.

In my opinion, New Super Mario Bros. U is the most enjoyable Mario game ever. There are a lot of different levels, so you never get bored. I also like that you can play together with your friends. The controls are easy and the levels are not too difficult.

The Mario sidescroller, finally in HD!
After the disappointing New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo 3DS, I had less hope for this game. Luckily, the Wii U installment turned out to be much better than I had expected.

For the first time, the (2D) Mario series can be played in HD, which already contributes to a strong presentation of the game. The level design, incorporating new elements, also adds a lot to this. The addictive tunes are the icing on the cake for the levels, a sauce that sounds delightful!

To my surprise, Nintendo has managed to raise the difficulty level once again. There are some truly challenging levels. Finding the Star Coins is also not easy in every level. In addition to this, the new power-up, the acorn, allows Mario to transform into a squirrel. This enables you to glide, introducing new gameplay elements.

The multiplayer, as in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, is a barrel of laughs. Whether you're dragging each other through the level or throwing each other into the abyss, it's undeniably fun! Another great addition to the multiplayer options is the ability to have a 5th player join. They take the sacred GamePad and can make blocks appear, on which the others can stand to reach higher/further places. As this player, you can also literally obstruct the others.

One more plus point: a new game mode! In this game, you can play a special mission mode. Small missions of incredibly high difficulty. This significantly increases the replay value. These challenges are truly for the experts!

All in all, New Super Mario Bros. U is a super fun, reasonably long, and highly appealing Mario platformer. With the new gameplay elements, a slightly higher difficulty level, and the multiplayer fun, this game is definitely a great addition to your collection!

A fantastic multiplayer platformer! A must-have for any Mario fan!
New Super Mario Bros. U is a fantastic multiplayer platformer. The game features various worlds that progressively become more challenging as you advance.

The game strongly resembles New Super Mario Bros. Wii for the Nintendo Wii, but now runs in 1080p (full HD) and, of course, comes with some new power-ups. With the new flying squirrel suit, you can 'fly' for long distances.

The game has become much more visually appealing and is filled with secrets and hidden star coins that you need to collect to fully complete the game! All in all, you'll spend many hours entertained by this game. Playing with multiple players makes the game much more enjoyable as you can help each other collect items.

All in all, I give this game a solid 8! A must-have for any Mario fan.

Not so 'New' Mario Bros U
This game is a real recommendation!
The map is nicely put together with the good old elements from the Mario series. Additionally, the new features are also enjoyable. Bowser is now in Peach's castle and slowly transforming it into his own castle. These updates are fun! Furthermore, the new power-up of the flying squirrel is a nice addition and provides a funny novelty.
Unfortunately, the game does feel like an expansion pack of the Wii version. The levels are not very original. The gameplay is almost the same, and there aren't many new things included.
New Super Mario Bros. U is a fun game and a real recommendation if you are a fan of the Mario series!

Not very innovative, but very comprehensive
New Super Mario Bros. U is without a doubt the most comprehensive New Super Mario Bros. game to date. However, it must be said that the game doesn't completely convince me. This is because the game doesn't feel very innovative and, apart from an HD makeover and a new power-up, it seems very similar to previous installments. Luigi or Mario!?
Play as Mario or do you prefer playing as Luigi? Now you can do both when you buy the Nintendo Selects version with New Super Luigi U. Normally, you can only be Luigi when playing with multiple people, but now you can also play as Luigi alone. With new levels and new challenges. Best HD Mario experience with great power-up and music
I was never really disappointed with the New Super Mario series, but I do think that New Super Mario Bros. U for the Nintendo Wii U is one of the best entries, especially after the original on the DS. Although the game uses many of the same themes and the Koopalings are back, it’s still a super lovely game. It’s the first HD Mario game, which really makes a difference in my opinion. The Super Acorn is a fantastic power-up that allows Mario to glide and cling to walls. And the music is, as always in Mario games, incredibly cheerful and captivating!

One of the things I really like is that some versions of the game include the amazing DLC "New Super Luigi U". If you get the chance to buy this bundled with New Super Mario Bros U, you should definitely go for it! It’s a fun challenge and offers that little bit extra for the true fans. Plus, these bundles are super cheap nowadays and absolutely worth it.

All in all, New Super Mario Bros U for the Wii U is a fantastic experience. The game offers the classic Mario action we all know and love, but in a beautiful HD coat. If you’re a fan of the series, I would definitely recommend adding this title to your collection.

Great but unfortunately lacks innovation
New Super Mario Bros. U is a fantastic game. For the first time in years, there is one continuous world. The new Acorn power-up is well thought out. The extra modes are fun, and the GamePad makes the game easier.

Unfortunately, there isn't much real innovation compared to the Wii version. The interface remains the same, and many power-ups make a return. The penguin and propeller mushrooms, unfortunately, only appear in the bonus world.
Nevertheless, New Super Mario Bros. U remains a very enjoyable game!

Same Old Story
The New Super Mario Bros. games are technically well-made, easy to control, and the multiplayer aspects are fun. That's why I won't give the game a failing grade. However, I can't overlook the fact that we're being served the same game for the fourth time. Once again, the same 8 worlds, the same enemies, and still no real variation between the levels.

Nabbit and the new connected overworld hardly add anything substantial, which is why I wouldn't recommend buying New Super Mario Bros. U, especially since you probably already have something similar.

Beautiful and fun game, a real recommendation!
New Super Mario Bros. U is a game with HD quality. The levels become increasingly challenging, so there is a fun challenge behind it. You also have nice and beautiful backgrounds in the levels. I find the Sugarwater Sea the most beautiful world, with many underwater levels where you have to watch out for the cheep cheep fish (which come in different colors). Each world is different and always has something fun. You start in a world with trees, called Oak Valley. I really recommend buying this game!!

Fun game with exciting new features and plenty of challenges
I find this game a lot more enjoyable than New Super Mario Bros 2 or New Super Mario Bros. It includes cool new elements, like the Yoshi power-ups and the ability to play with your Mii character. I find the Koopalings a bit more challenging to defeat compared to New Super Mario Bros for the Wii, but that's what makes it a fun challenge. There's also a new item, the Super Acorn. It turns Mario into a flying squirrel! This allows you to stay airborne longer, similar to Cape Mario from Super Mario World or Tanooki Mario. Additionally, many classic items make a return in the game, such as Fire Mario and Mini Mario. The game is enjoyable for all ages.

2D platformer with power-ups but unfortunately short
Oh. Mario u... it was a rather short game unfortunately and the final boss was a bit weak.
So weak that I barely remember it. But overall, New Super Mario Bros. U was very enjoyable with beautiful graphics, good design, and a new flying squirrel power-up! This allows you to float slowly and perform a double jump while floating.
It could have used more new content but it was a good game and the extra mode is also very fun. Most of the time, because some challenges were dreadful...

Not as good as the previous games!
Ever since the DS, I've been playing all the Mario Bros. games! It's always fun with friends or family! Unfortunately, New Super Mario Bros. U is a bit less enjoyable than the previous games! Amazing Mario Bros.
New Super Mario Bros. U is everything you'd expect from a Mario Bros. game. But this is absolutely the best Mario Bros. since Super Mario Bros. 3. The storyline is almost the same as always. The boss fights too, except for the last one. But what makes this Mario Bros. so good is the level design. What a beautiful level design this game has! In addition to the usual themes like ice, desert, forest blah blah blah, there are even more new ones. The new squirrel suit is also really cleverly designed. There is also a fun DLC included (or available for separate purchase) called New Super Luigi U, which is also a truly amazing game. It's a very special Mario Bros. game and every Mario fan should give it a try!

All world themes are the same as the previous games. The game lacks originality, and the title is a lie. Nothing new, almost everything is old.

Amazing sequel with returning power-ups!
It's a really fun game. Before I got my Wii U, I played New Super Mario Bros. U and that was great and top-notch, but this is also a blast! Definitely worth buying. Do you want to complete the game with all Star Coins? Then be sure to read my tips!

1. In many levels, you'll notice alcoves in the walls of New Super Mario Bros. U. If you enter them, you'll find a secret area with sometimes a Star Coin.
2. With power-ups (especially the new Acorn power-up), you can reach more places than without. So, always make sure to use a power-up when collecting coins.
3. Think outside the box. Offscreen, you might find a coin hidden somewhere.
4. Go to hard-to-reach places. They might contain either Star Coins or important items for obtaining Star Coins.
5. No power-up while you spot a Star Coin in the air? Switch to the Wii remote and use the GamePad to place blocks!
6. Still feeling lost? Press the Home button and look it up on the internet. Personally, I find the videos from GameXplain and IGN on YouTube very helpful.

Nabbit is the rabbit-like character you need to catch once in every world in New Super Mario Bros. U. Can't seem to nab him? Use a Super Star, as it makes you faster and increases your chances of catching Nabbit. (And what else would you use those stars for anyway?)

How can I warp from world 1 to world 7 in Super Mario Bros?

You can go from world 1 to world 4, and then to world 7.

In world 1-2, there is a secret exit. If you complete the level using the secret path, you will unlock a bridge to a secret level in world 1. Complete that, and you'll find yourself in world 4.

In the ghost house in world 4, there is also a secret path that leads to a hidden level in world 4. Complete this one, and you'll be in world 7.

I managed to do this in about 30 minutes.

Do you miss the two power-ups above a lot from the Wii? They are actually very late in the game! If you want to get these two power-ups, you first have to defeat Bowser in New Super Mario Bros. U. In the new star world that you unlock, you have to unlock a level by collecting all star coins in one of the worlds. When you complete the level, you'll unlock a Toad house with both power-ups inside!
