New Super Luigi U is a fun platformer. It was a bit short though.
Have you played New Super Mario Bros. U and enjoyed it? Then New Super Luigi U will definitely appeal to you!

New Super Luigi U follows the same concept as New Super Mario Bros. U, except the levels are much shorter and you have less time to complete them. This means you need to stay focused in each level and always be quick!

Luigi jumps higher and runs faster in this game. You'll need to get used to this at the beginning. The Toads also jump and run higher and faster. Mario doesn't play in this game; instead, you have a new character: Nabbit! This character cannot be hit and is essentially invincible. Handy when you're stuck in a certain level.

The game also uses the same world map, so if you've completed the old game entirely, you already know where secrets are hidden. However, some secrets in New Super Luigi U are still very well hidden!

All in all, I would rate this game an 8. However, don't pay the full price for it - wait until it's on sale!

Nice extra for fans
My preference has always been for the 2D Mario games, so I was very happy with New Super Mario Bros. U. This game is almost the same, but replaces all levels, giving you a whole new game. The biggest difference is that all levels are adjusted for Luigi's characteristics, which takes some getting used to.
The game is relatively short. Personally, I played through the game in 3 hours, but of course, you can try to collect the star coins in each level to unlock more content, such as extra levels and a mode where you play as Mario.
The graphics and music are the same as New Super Mario Bros. U. Nothing special, but decent and it fits well with the game. The 4-player mode is also still intact. In a twist, Mario has been replaced by Nabbit, who cannot use power-ups but cannot die from enemies, making it much easier for beginners. This makes the game a lot more accessible, as it can sometimes be a bit difficult. The levels are quite short, which takes away some of the difficulty.
All in all, I think it's a must-have for fans of New Super Mario Bros. U. It's essentially a level pack that can keep you busy for a while. The game has all the charm of the original and definitely gives you a lot of fun. This game may not be very original, but as long as it remains enjoyable, there's nothing wrong with that.

Difficult
New Super Luigi U is just way too difficult (well, for me at least). It came with my deluxe version.

If you can breeze through the "regular" Super Mario Brothers, this game will provide a challenge. Luigi jumps a bit higher and feels slightly faster to me.

But for me, it's too frustrating. They are short levels against the clock. It could have been much more enjoyable; it feels like when I played The Lost Levels on the SNES All Stars game when I was 12.

Missed opportunity Nintendo! I also find it "cheap" that the world map is the same.

Game with a fun, yet challenging twist.
Many levels of New Super Luigi U resemble the levels from New Super Mario Bros U. The worlds are exactly the same. However, there is more challenge involved, as you only have 100 seconds to complete a level. This can be quite tough for some levels. New Super Luigi U is in HD quality, so you'll have a great visual experience. It's a fun game if you enjoy a bit more challenge and prefer Luigi over Mario. I got this game along with New Super Mario Bros U for the Wii U, but I wouldn't have bought them separately. Nonetheless, it's a great game with plenty of challenge!

If you enjoyed New Super Mario Bros. U, then you'll surely like New Super Luigi U too! In each level, you have 100 seconds to reach the end, but you also need to search for the Star Coins in each level. Due to the time limit, it can be quite challenging but very rewarding (and that's what makes it fun).

In New Super Luigi U, you often have just 100 seconds to complete a level. This makes finding Star Coins quite challenging at times. If you're struggling to locate one, try the following:

- First, complete the level so you have a general idea of the layout.
- Have you found a coin? Check the top right of the screen to see which one it is! If you've found the middle one but are missing the left one, you'll need to backtrack to search for it! This will give you a better idea of where to look for the coin.
- Search in sections. Start with the first part of the level, then make a second attempt for the middle section, and finally, run to the end of the level and search there.
- Searching with friends can speed things up, as you can check multiple areas at once.
- Is a coin hanging in a tricky spot above the abyss? Have one of your friends jump for the coin and immediately step into their bubble. This way, you can grab tricky Star Coins more easily.
