So much to do that you'd want to do in real life too
On the Wii U, in Minecraft: Wii U Edition, you have a creative mode, a survival mode, and an adventure mode. I've been playing the survival mode with my brothers for weeks on Saturday and Sunday mornings. (For this, you will need Pro/Classic controllers.) You play together in split screen in the open world. It's fun that you can come across each other and help out.

In the creative mode, you have all the blocks to freely build with. It's fun that you can (re)build everything from books and YouTube videos here.

In the survival mode, you have to try to survive. In the open world, there are monsters, villages, and you need to make sure you have your own bed. You could complete it by defeating a dragon, but we've actually never managed to do that.

There are several worlds like ice, terrible, tutorial, and not to forget the Mario world. In each world, the blocks you build with are different, so you need to pay attention to what the furnace is, for example.

Great game :)
Minecraft is an amazing game that everyone should play, even on the Wii U! Minecraft: Wii U Edition is indeed an older version, which is a bit of a shame. However, I've had a lot of hours of fun playing it!

Minimal Wii U GamePad integration in Minecraft: Wii U Edition
Minecraft: Wii U Edition brings the iconic sandbox game to Nintendo's platform for the first time, offering the same creative freedom and blocky charm that has made the game so popular worldwide. You can build, survive, and explore in a procedurally generated world full of possibilities, where the only real limit is your own imagination.

What sets this edition apart is the use of the Wii U GamePad, although the implementation is quite minimal. You can use the GamePad's screen to play the game entirely off-screen, which is handy, but features like inventory management or crafting on the GamePad screen are unfortunately not integrated, which is a missed opportunity.

The game offers a solid local multiplayer experience, both locally and online, allowing you to build and explore with friends. Up to four players can play locally on one system via split-screen. Online multiplayer used to work brilliantly, but since the Wii U servers went offline in 2024, this is sadly no longer possible.

The Wii U edition also includes a number of exclusive Nintendo-themed skins and content, such as characters from Super Mario. Graphically, Minecraft stays true to its blocky, retro style, and although it’s not a visual powerhouse, the Wii U version runs smoothly with stable performance. The world feels just as vast and expansive as in other versions, although the Wii U version does have some limitations regarding the size of the playable world compared to PC and later consoles.

All in all, Minecraft: Wii U Edition offers the same addictive and creative experience that fans of the game expect, but with minimal Wii U-specific features. It remains a great game for both solo and multiplayer fun, but could have benefitted more from the unique capabilities of the system.

Fun to play at home
Really fun to play. This version is similar to the Minecraft you have on your iPad, but the advantage is that it looks much nicer and is much more practical with the Wii U buttons.
If you enjoy the tablet version, you will also love Minecraft: Wii U Edition.

Minecraft with Mario World for Wii U
It's fun, but if you already have a different version of the game, it's somewhat redundant.

The game is nothing more than Minecraft, only it comes with a built-in Mario world. Here, all kinds of Mario things are built, and it's fun to explore. You can also build in Mario style or play in survival mode, which is very enjoyable. However, if you already own another version, it doesn't bring enough new things to warrant purchasing Minecraft: Wii U Edition.

Minecraft, a fun and educational game for young and old!
Minecraft: Wii U Edition is truly a classic. I myself have only recently started playing the Console Edition of Minecraft, just to experience how it used to be on Console, and it was awesome! It's a completely different experience compared to the PC version of Minecraft. But very enjoyable! All in all, Minecraft: Wii U Edition is a great purchase for Wii U owners.

4 tips: 2 Easter Eggs and Glitches - 1 Secret - 1 Personal tip

Easter Eggs and Glitches:
How does the Duplication Glitch work in Minecraft: Wii U Edition?

If you want infinite diamonds, iron, gold, and much more, there's a really handy tutorial for Minecraft: Wii U Edition. Just keep in mind that it only works with blocks that you can convert to an item and back to a block, like diamonds. If you turn 1 diamond block back into diamonds, you can then turn those 9 diamonds back into a block. So it only works with such blocks (iron, gold, diamond blocks, Redstone blocks, Coal blocks, Lapis Lazuli blocks, emerald blocks, hay bales, dried kelp blocks, slime blocks).

Secrets:
Where to find sponges in Minecraft: Wii U Edition?
Blearable

Sponges, yes, most people are familiar with them, but did you know they’re also in Minecraft: Wii U Edition? And where can you actually find them? Well, the first step is to locate an Ocean Monument. After that, you need to defeat the Elder Guardians, because if you don’t take them out first, you’ll keep getting mining fatigue, and it’ll take ages before you can break even a single block. Once you've defeated all three, you can start looking for the sponges. There are two rooms filled with sponges, and you’ll be able to find them by searching around. Check out the video for instructions! (The video is in English) Hopefully, this helps you out!!

Personal tip:
How can I defeat the Ender Dragon?
Blearable

For anyone struggling to defeat the Ender Dragon, I have a great tip!

First, I would recommend searching for diamonds and lapis lazuli, and trying to find enough diamonds for a full set of diamond armour, a diamond sword, a diamond pickaxe, and leaving 2 diamonds for an enchanting table. Once you have your diamond pickaxe, it’s best to look for obsidian. This is a purplish block that forms when water meets lava. When you find it, I would mine a total of 14 obsidian. After that, I would create an enchanting table and some bookshelves, as bookshelves allow you to enhance your enchantments. Then, it’s best to enchant your diamond armour and sword. Once that’s done, I would craft a bow and enchant that as well. Afterward, try to gather as many arrows as you can. You can also trade for arrows with villagers.

Once you’ve done that, I would create a Nether portal and look for a Nether fortress to kill enough Blazes to collect a total of 8 - 10 Blaze rods. When you’ve done that, you can return to the Overworld and search for a desert, as that’s where most Endermen spawn at night. Once you’ve found a desert, I would create a space that is two blocks high and wide enough so that the Endermen can’t hit you. I would gather enough Ender Pearls until you have 14 - 16. After that, I would turn the Blaze rods into Blaze powder and combine the Ender Pearls with the Blaze powder.

And then comes the final step: now you need to throw the Eye of Ender and follow the direction it goes. When you throw the eye and it comes back, I would walk 20 blocks in that direction and throw another one. If it goes the other way again, then you know that’s where you can find the End portal. You can also find plenty of bookshelves in the library at this location. Once you’ve found the portal, you need to place an eye in each of the portal blocks that don’t have one. Then you’re ready to jump in. Make sure you have blocks with you, as you may need to build to the main island.

When you’re there, the first step is to shoot down all the crystals on the towers with your bow and arrows. Once that’s done, the dragon can’t regain health, and it’s then your task to kill it. When it’s in the air, I would shoot it with your bow, and when it lands, I would hit it with your sword. Once it’s defeated, you can return to the Overworld!

I wish you all the best of luck!
