Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is, as you can tell from the title, a tennis game, no, a very fun tennis game! Play tennis with well-known Mario characters, including Princess Peach, Toad, and the newcomer to Mario Tennis, Rosalina. In addition to the classic singles and doubles tennis matches, you can also try the 'Knock-Out Challenge', where the goal is to defeat every tennis player in a sort of tournament until you finally have to play against a cheating Bowser! Another game mode is the 'Mega-Mushroom' matches, where Mega Mushrooms will appear on the court that you can pick up to (temporarily) grow to the size of a house. And not only does your character grow, but your hitting power and agility also increase, making it extra difficult for your opponent! However, be careful, as your opponent can also pick up a Mega Mushroom.
Online functionality is essential in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, play with people from all over the world and test your skills! You can even use an amiibo: if you own a compatible amiibo, you can use it as your teammate in online matches. Unfortunately, this game on the Wii U is not playable with your friends, which is a downside.
